Ben Adams is a multi-disciplinary photographer based in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France

“Nearly seven years ago, I made the choice to pack the car, quit my job, and leave my life in London behind in search of a new adventure in the Chamonix Valley. Along with a change in scenery, I made a promise to myself: to dedicate more time to photography, specifically film photography. The change of pace felt necessary, and after hours spent wandering in the mountains that surround Mont Blanc, I still appreciate the anxious feeling I had when packing for that new adventure.

I picked up my first film camera in 2013, but I've never felt more connected to the medium than when I switched to my Leica M2. Its lightweight form factor and unobtrusive nature have given me the freedom to carry my camera into almost any environment whether is chasing sunsets in the valley or breaking trail in the backcountry.”

Ben’s work has been recognised for its ability to inspire people to travel and explore the mountains that surround Mont Blanc. His unique take on colour, light, composition and choice to use cameras from the past has opened a new wave of local tourism and now finds himself working with brands, hotels, adventure guiding companies and tourist boards to authentically showcase the beauty of the local area.

Let’s work together

Summer film photography and darkroom workshop

For the summer of 2025, I am collaborating with a local guiding company to offer an inclusive Chamonix film photography discovery workshop. This package includes three nights of accommodation with breakfast, lift access and tickets as needed, and meticulously planned hiking itineraries to some of the most photogenic locations in the valley. Additionally, there will be a sunrise session at the Aiguille du Midi. All workshops will be led by an International Mountain Leader who shares a passion for film photography.

We promise long yet unforgettable days surrounded by Mont Blanc, over ten years of experience photographing some of the most iconic locations in the valley. Participants will receive comprehensive tips and insights into my film shooting techniques and the gear I use, as well as discounted development and scanning services through my affiliate lab partner. For the summer of 2025, there will be three trips, each capped at a maximum of eight participants per workshop. These long but memorable days will guarantee stunning film photography of the some the most breathtaking landscapes in the Alps.
